Deadpan Pictures’ comedy drama ‘Can’t Cope Won’t Cope’ has started shooting in Dublin. Starring the magnetic new talent of Seana Kerslake (Dollhouse) and Nika McGuigan (Traders) as our leading ladies, with turns from Amy Huberman (Threesome), Norma Sheahan (Moone Boy) and Eileen Walsh (Catastrophe) the 6-part half-hour series is written by Stefanie Preissner (Solpadeine is my Boyfriend), being produced by Ailish McElmeel (Burning Wishes) and directed by Cathy Brady (Glue for e4).
Can’t Cope Won’t Cope follows two Cork girls, Aisling and Danielle, as they navigate Dublin and the perilous waters of adulthood. Fuelled by Vodka and bolstered by a sense of entitlement these girls run, as unfit as they are, away from the reality that awaits them.
The series is commissioned by RTE 2 with the support of BAI, Section 481 and with Content Media representing international rights. Transmission will be on RTE 2 this autumn.
Producer Ailish McElmeel said “It’s so exciting to bring an achingly truthful and funny series to the screen. Stefanie’s writing truly is the ‘voice of her generation’ and with the multi-award winning Cathy Brady at the helm we really are in new territory in terms of the Dublin we’re exploring and the young women we’re representing – depicting post Celtic tiger cubs very much at odds with the world they find themselves in.”
