Paul Donovan | Co-Founder & Producer 

Paul co-founded Deadpan Pictures in 2014 to focus on comedy drama. Company credits include 2 series of Can’t Cope Won’t Cope, Nowhere Fast and The South Westerlies. Most recently Paul completed Dead Still, a 6 x 1 Hour critically acclaimed series for Acorn, RTÉ and ZDFE with Shaftesbury in Canada as co-producers. He is currently returning the favour on Departure 2 with Shaftesbury as lead Canadian Producers.Prior to Deadpan Paul co-owned Grand Pictures where he exec produced International Emmy Award winner Moone Boy starring Chris O’Dowd, for Sky; was producer of Monte Carlo TV Festival nominated Trivia; Val Falvey, TD; and Stew, winner of both IFTA and Celtic Film and Television awards. Paul’s feature film credits include exec producer of The Bright Side (2020): co-producer of Four Kids and It (2020), starring Academy Award-winner Michael Caine, based on the best-selling children’s novel by Jacqueline Wilson; he also produced the feature films The Last Right (2019) Wide Open Spaces (2008); Dead Long Enough (2005); Mapmaker (2001); and The Last Bus Home (1996). He is a graduate of ACE, EAVE and Screen Leaders.

Since forming Deadpan Pictures with Paul Donovan in 2014, Ailish and Paul have produced some of the most critically acclaimed TV shows to come out of Ireland, including Can’t Cope Won’t Cope and Dead Still, establishing Deadpan Pictures as the comedy drama production company in Ireland. Ailish’s recent production was The South Westerlies, a 6 X 1 hour ratings hit for both RTE and Acorn. Previous productions include Women on the Verge, a co-production with Merman for UKTV and RTE, the critically acclaimed Can’t Cope Won’t Cope for RTE/Netflix/ BBC3, Nowhere Fast for RTE and the multi-award winning web series, Burning Wishes. Ailish also produced the feature film Halal Daddy (2017) under Deadpan. Prior to establishing Deadpan Pictures Ailish was Head of Production and producer for Grand Pictures. She is a graduate of Inside Pictures 2019, TransAtlantic Partners 2013, Eave 2007 and holds a diploma from UCLA in Film Development and a B.Sc. in Film and Broadcasting from DIT. She was a founding board member of the Irish Chapter of Women in Film and Television. 



Trisha Flood | Production Executive

Trisha is currently helming the production office at Deadpan. In her time with Deadpan she has worked on many projects including Can’t Cope Won’t Cope and Women on the VergeDead StillThe South Westerlies and The Last Right
Before becoming Production Executive at Deadpan Pictures Trisha had been a Freelance Producer and a Line Producer for over ten years, working on numerous feature and short films as well as commercials and educational videos. Her award-winning work has been screened at many international festivals including Camerimage, Newport Beach and the Mexico International Film Festival.  
Trisha has a BA in Film and TV Production from the National Film School and an MSc in Digital Film Production.



Heather Browning | Development Executive

Heather is the Development Executive at Deadpan Pictures, where she works as a script editor across the company’s slate of projects. Aside from her role at Deadpan, Heather works freelance as a script editor, mentor and reader for a variety of production companies and funding bodies across Ireland.

Heather holds a BA in English Literature and Film Studies, and an M.Litt research degree in Film Studies from Trinity College, Dublin.






Gordon McCaughley | Junior Development Executive 

Gordon has worked in writers rooms on various TV series in development and active production in Ireland and the UK. Before joining Deadpan Pictures, Gordon was a Storyliner on Virgin Media One’s award-winning crime-drama ‘Red Rock’ and the Writer’s Assistant on AMC’s upcoming crime series ‘Kin’. Gordon also worked as a freelance script reader and development assistant. He holds an MA in Screenwriting from the Huston School of Film in NUI Galway.


Clodagh Kelly | Executive Assistant

Clodagh has a passion for the arts and has previously worked as an assistant producer and in house project manger on documentaries such as (After The Dance, We Are Moving & Being AP.)  With over 10 years experience assisting and project managing across many creative sectors, Clodagh was thrilled to return to the world of Film & TV in 2020 to join the Deadpan team. As a keen advocate for the planet, she also produces and co-hosts a monthly environmental podcast called ‘Climate Queens’.
